Develop Your Action Plan
Choose your goal. Build your plan one step at a time. Save your progress and continue when you are ready.
This page helps you build a LinkedIn action plan. Most steps contain checklists, practical tips and examples. You do not need to finish everything in one visit.
1. Choose Your Goal
Under Your Goal and Options, choose what you want LinkedIn to help you do. Select any extra options that fit your situation and choose a weekly pace. Then click Create My Plan.
2. Move Through Your Plan
Begin with Step 1 and describe what you want to accomplish. Use the plan-step links in Step 1 to jump to another step, or scroll through the page. Open example and help panels when you need ideas. Click their headings again to close them.
3. Use the Checklists
Read a checklist item, carry out the activity when appropriate, and check it when finished. Skip anything that does not fit your goal. The progress indicator counts checked items. It is not a grade.
Use the examples as starting points, not as scripts you must copy. Make profile changes, send messages and complete other LinkedIn activities on LinkedIn. Checking a box here does not perform those actions.
4. Save Your Progress
Enter an answer or check a plan checklist item to enable Save My Progress. Click it once to turn on automatic saving for that plan. After a successful save, later changes save automatically. Check the saving message to confirm that saving is on.
Saving uses this browser on this device, not an online account. Return using the same browser profile, device and website address. Private Browsing, Incognito or clearing website data can remove your saved plans.
5. Return to a Saved Plan
Use Your Saved Plans to open a saved plan. If you have several plans, select the one you want and use the button below the list. If a saved plan opens automatically, continue where you left off.
You can keep one saved plan for each goal. Each saved plan contains its latest saved progress, not a history of earlier versions.
6. Adjust Your Options
Return to Your Goal and Options to change your extra options or weekly pace. With JavaScript enabled, these changes update your current plan automatically. Choosing a different goal lets you create or open a separate plan for that goal.
7. Keep a Backup Copy
After creating a plan, use Export My Plan as Text or Print / Save as PDF to keep a readable copy. These copies cannot be uploaded to restore a plan. Keep a backup of anything you do not want to lose.
8. Clear or Delete Carefully
Clear This Plan and Start Again deletes your current plan and returns you to the beginning with no goal selected. Your other saved plans stay unchanged.
Delete All My Saved Plans deletes every saved plan for this guide in this browser on this device. Your current on-screen entries remain, but automatic saving stops until you save again.
Both actions ask for confirmation. Deletion cannot be undone. Export or print anything you want to keep first.
9. Protect Your Information
Avoid entering passwords, private contact details or other sensitive information. Saved entries are not encrypted, and other people using the same browser may be able to see them.
JavaScript is needed for saving, opening saved plans and automatic option updates. For more information, open How Saving and Privacy Work in Plan Controls.

How Saving and Privacy Work
Saving keeps your progress in this browser on this device. After your first successful save, later changes save automatically.
Your plans are not saved in an online account and do not move between browsers or devices. To continue later, use the same browser profile, device, and website address.
Keeping Your Plans Between Visits
Use a regular browsing window. Plans saved in Private Browsing or Incognito are removed when all private tabs close.
If your browser is set to clear cookies and site data when it closes, your saved plans may also be deleted. To keep your plans between visits, review your browser’s privacy settings and, where available, allow this website to keep its site data.
Clearing this website’s saved data also removes your plans.
Clearing or Deleting Plans
Clear This Plan and Start Again: deletes your current plan and returns you to the beginning with no goal selected. Your other saved plans stay unchanged.
Delete All My Saved Plans: deletes all your saved plans for this guide from your browser on this device. This cannot be undone. Your entries currently on screen remain, but automatic saving stops until you save again.
Privacy and Backup Copies
No Encryption: Your entries are not encrypted. Other people using this browser may be able to see them. Avoid saving private information if you are using a shared device.
Backup Copies: Export or print a copy of anything you want to keep, especially if you use Private Browsing or keep automatic browser cleanup enabled. A text or PDF export is a readable copy only; you cannot use it to restore a plan.
You have one saved plan per goal, not a list of earlier versions. Your saved plans show the latest save date.
Your Goal and Options
Your goal is what you want to accomplish. Your plan contains the steps, checklists, and progress you save. Choose one main goal for now.
